How to use this website:
You can browse the complete Toy Library catalogue by clicking on the View Catalogue button and selecting the category which interests you.
If you want to search for a specific item you can do this by entering a key word in the search box. You can then click on the correct section. You may be shown more than one category as the item you are searching for may be in several sections. You can then browse the category to find the item you are searching for.
When you have found an item that you are interested in please contact me for more information.
An advice leaflet on many aspects of play has been written for parents or carers of children who have additional sensory needs which you can view or download.

About The Toy Library
The Special Needs Toy Library is a service for children from 5 to 13 with Special Needs who live within the City of Derby. It is currently funded by the Children's Fund.
There is a fanatastic range of exciting specialist toys and stimulating sensory equipment for children who have any sort of special needs.
All the toys and equipment in the Toy Library have been carefully selected by the qualified and experienced Project Leader, in consultation with the children, parents, teachers and other professionals.
The service is available to individual families or to any setting such as schools, playgroups, respite provisions, play schemes etc - anyone who cares for a child with a special need.

TOY LIBRARY SESSIONS
Come along to one of the new Toy Library Sessions, for all children up to the age of 13. Meet other families, join in with the 'Stay and Play' sessions and borrow a toy!
Sessions are held fortnightly at:
North Chaddesden Children's Centre, Audrey Drive, Chaddesden, Derby DE21 4NP. Wednesday mornings between 9.30 and 11am.
Brackensdale Primary School SureStart Room, Walthamstow Drive, Derby DE22 4BS. Wednesday afternoons between 2 and 4pm.
St Giles School, Hampshire Road, Chaddesden, Derby DE21 6BT. Thursday afternoons between 1.30 and 3pm (not a 'Stay and Play' session).
Mickleover/Littleover Chidren's Centre, Brierfield Way, Mickleover Derby DE3 9SA. Friday mornings between 9.30 and 12 noon.

The Toy Library offers a great opportunity for parents and settings to loan specialist toys and equipment, which can prove very costly to buy, for a small fee (prices start from just 10p per week) and offer the children a variety of new and stimulating experiences.
